  1. Iconic Inspirations

From textiles to furniture, many new products paid tribute to design icons. Designtex’s The Bauhaus Project collection consists of eight upholsteries and eight digitally printed wallcoverings which pulls designs from Gunta Stölzl and Anni Albers, two women weavers of the Bauhaus movement.

East meets West in the design of Steelcase’s West Elm Work Collection modular Boardwalk system. Pillow-like cushions inspired by Japanese “zaisu” sit on a simple platform with natural wood detailing—a nod to 1960s California residential design.

Camira recreated textiles by design icon Jens Risom, a Danish-American Midcentury designer. Zap, a wool, dobby-weave fabric incorporates vibrant tone-on-tone or cross-color blends. Colors include an avocado green and harvest gold paying tribute to its Midcentury influence.

  1. Bringing the Outdoors In

Biophilic design is proven to reduce stress levels, improve our mood, and increase our creativity. Nature-inspired finishes & products continue to appear throughout many manufacturer’s showrooms. Acoustic design company Luxxbox’s Waffle Leaves offering unique visual appeal while reducing reverberated noise in open space.

Sagegreenlife makes it easier than ever to specify living walls through the Verdanta Collection showcased at the Steelcase Work Café –  the Verdanta products include plants, irrigation, and maintenance eliminating the need for a third party to source plantlife.

  1. Embrace the Curves

Steelcase’s West Elm Work Collection Belle Sectional expresses personality through shape and color. The lounge is featured above in a monochromatic palette of Designtex West Elm fabrics, illustrating the separate seat and back panel capabilities.

The soft curves of Global’s Drift Highback Lounge and Drift Pouf welcome relaxed conversations. With the optional polished chrome base this lounge chair can transform into a truly classic look at a competitive price point.

  1. You’ve got the power!

Collaborate anywhere, anytime, any way with Microsoft Surface Hub 2S and Steelcase Roam. The APC Charge Battery within Steelcase Roam provides up to 100 minutes of power without a wired power connection.

Steelcase Flex Mobile Power brings true mobility to the workplace. Designed in collaboration with Anker, each power unit has a capacity of 218 watt hours that can power three laptop users simultaneously for a full day or an individual for a full week. Bye bye expensive core drilling!

  1. Desert Tones + Lilac

NeoCon is always a time to notice trends in color! A palette of desert tones – dusty rose, sunbaked adobe, and terra cotta appeared across many showrooms. Pictured below is the Best of NeoCon Showroom – Hightower followed by the Best Of NeoCon Architectural Product – Obeya by OFS.

Lilac may be the color of your first eye shadow once applied liberally in primary school. It is now making a comeback in 2019 across the beauty & fashion industries and even in interiors. A new Lilac lux finish from Steelcase is a unique way to jazz up any space.
