Rooted in Nature, Built for Community

MadTree Brewing’s latest venture, Parks & Rec, is a vibrant 15,000-square-foot restaurant and private events space located in the heart of Summit Park in Blue Ash, Ohio. Designed to extend and enhance the park’s natural charm, the new venue is not just a place to gather—it’s a destination that connects people through community, nature, and great beer.

This renovation project is packed with immersive and inclusive design elements that reflect MadTree’s commitment to sustainability and accessibility. From a life-size indoor tree, a living wall,  a refurbished camper, and a dedicated kids’ zone—every detail adds to the character and warmth of the space.

LOTH was proud to collaborate with MadTree Brewing, offering furniture selection, layout, and design expertise to help bring this imaginative and purpose-driven space to life.

Project Highlights

  • Living Wall and nature-inspired features that reinforce the park’s green space
  • Inclusive and accessible bar areas and seating
  • Sustainable practices, including carbon offsets for private events

Parks & Rec is more than a restaurant—it’s a hub for families, friends, and neighbors to gather and make lasting memories.

A Partnership Rooted in Shared Values

LOTH’s involvement in this project was born from an existing relationship between MadTree’s Founder and LOTH Workplace Consultant, Betsy. Beyond the connection, LOTH was selected for the quality of design concepts and the creative, community-forward solutions presented to the MadTree team.

During the decision-making process, MadTree was given a guided tour of LOTH’s Cincinnati Work Studio and shown a portfolio of relevant hospitality projects, helping build trust and spark inspiration for what their new space could become.

In addition, for this project, LOTH collaborated with MSA Design, Core Resources, Urban Blooms, and HoltHaus Lackner across various facets of the project—from architectural planning and construction to branding, biophilic design, and signage. This collaboration combined a wide range of expertise to create a unified, engaging, and welcoming environment for all.

Designing for People and Purpose

As the only B Corp-certified brewery in Ohio and a proud member of 1% for the Planet, MadTree Brewing has always been guided by a purpose greater than beer. Their mission to positively impact both the environment and their local community was the driving force behind the vision for their newest venture—Parks & Rec.

To bring this vision to life, the team had to overcome several design and space planning challenges. From the start, it was clear that every decision needed to reflect MadTree’s values while creating a space that served both form and function.

LOTH worked closely with the team to maximize the available real estate without stretching the budget, improve the flow for both guests and employees, and craft an inclusive, welcoming atmosphere for all who walk through the doors. Just as important was staying true to the MadTree brand—sustainability, community, and thoughtful design at every turn.

Coinciding with the opening of Parks & Rec, MadTree also launched Branch Out—a new program and infrastructure designed to support inclusion for individuals and families with developmental disabilities. It’s just one more way MadTree is making good on their promise to brew with purpose and build spaces that bring people together.

A Space That Strengthens Community

This project holds deep meaning for LOTH. With Parks & Rec located just a short distance from our own office, it offered a unique opportunity to positively impact the surrounding community while supporting a local brand with a strong, purpose-driven mission.

Partnering with MadTree Brewing—a company deeply committed to environmental sustainability and social inclusion—was especially meaningful. We are honored to have played a role in bringing their vision to life and delivering a space where they can continue to thrive for years to come.

Parks & Rec stands as a true reflection of what happens when community connection, creativity, and conscious design come together.
