What was once an aging art department has been transformed into a vibrant, adaptable studio where creativity flourishes. Through thoughtful design, innovative materials, and close collaboration, LOTH helped La Salle High School create a space that reflects its values, inspires students, and strengthens its identity as a leader in arts education.
Challenge
La Salle High School needed to revitalize its outdated art department to better serve students and faculty, and to reflect the school’s evolving curriculum and brand. The existing space lacked functional storage, durable materials, and flexibility for varying class sizes and artistic disciplines. The challenge was to design a student-focused, highly functional environment that aligned with La Salle’s mission, within a modest footprint and tight timeline.
Vision
The vision was to create a clean, creative, and adaptive studio space that could accommodate multiple forms of art, painting, ceramics, digital media, and drawing. La Salle prioritized mobility, large-format storage, and visual consistency with its existing brand. The space also needed to be a showcase for prospective students and families, reflecting the school’s values and brand identity.
Collaboration
LOTH partnered closely with La Salle’s Director of Advancement to ensure the project aligned with both educational and institutional goals. Early 2D and 3D renderings helped communicate the vision to stakeholders and secure funding. Custom elements such as red laminate storage, butcher block and Trespa work surfaces, and full-height tackable walls were selected to support durability and creativity. The design team remained flexible throughout, balancing student needs with schedule and space constraints.
Result
The transformed art department is a bright, functional, and inspiring space that supports creativity, collaboration, and student engagement. With smart storage solutions, durable materials, and strong visual branding, the space now reflects La Salle’s commitment to the arts. The successful partnership between La Salle and LOTH sets the foundation for future collaboration and innovation in educational environments.
