Christ Hospital
Joint + Spine Center

Challenge

The Christ Hospital aimed to unify its main campus and create a patient-centered model for joint and spine care. The new seven-story facility required 90 private inpatient rooms and 12 surgical suites, demanding a furniture solution that enhanced the experience for patients, families, and staff. LOTH needed to coordinate closely with architects, contractors, and hospital teams while staying within budget on this large-scale, complex project.

Vision

The goal was to design a state-of-the-art, welcoming space that supported healing and improved the surgical experience for patients and families. Furniture needed to be functional, comfortable, and aligned with Christ Hospital’s mission to deliver high-quality, integrated care. The design also had to support staff workflows and create a cohesive environment throughout the center.

Collaboration

LOTH partnered with SOM and worked directly with 11 department leaders to assess detailed needs for every room in the facility. A thorough furniture evaluation process, including direct staff feedback and scorecard reviews, ensured selections met all functional and aesthetic goals. This collaborative approach allowed the design to reflect both patient comfort and clinical efficiency.

Result

The final interiors feature highly functional, carefully curated furniture solutions that elevate the experience for patients, families, and staff. The new Joint and Spine Center offers a cohesive, modern environment that fosters healing while supporting operational excellence. The project reinforces The Christ Hospital’s position as a leader in advanced orthopedic care.
