New municipal building reflects city’s vision and community connection.
Grandview Heights selected LOTH as a partner to help guide key design decisions. They needed to ensure the space aligned with programming, budget, and long-term goals to create a welcoming, community-focused building.

Challenge
The City of Grandview Heights set out to create a new 37,500 sq. ft. municipal building for its City Administration, Police and Fire Departments that could support evolving workstyles, attract and retain employees, and serve the community. In addition, the city needed more shared and upgraded spaces. Through a competitive interview process, Grandview Heights selected LOTH as a partner to help guide key design decisions and ensure the space aligned with programming, budget, and long-term goals.

Vision
The vision was to create a welcoming, community-focused building that balanced functionality, flexibility, and civic pride. At the same time, the space needed to support both internal collaboration and public engagement. Therefore, the design prioritized a mix of private offices, shared work areas, meeting spaces, and community-facing environments, all supported by strong branding, wayfinding, and visual storytelling elements throughout the building.

Collaboration
LOTH partnered closely with Erdy McHenry Architecture, Ruscilli, and American Sign Studio to align design intent, construction, and branding from the outset. Throughout the process, the team led user group sessions to gather feedback, refine space planning, and ensure every department’s needs were addressed. In addition, LOTH hosted multiple Work Studio visits to explore solutions and supported signage and wayfinding as an owner’s representative, helping create a cohesive experience across both interior and exterior environments.

Result
The completed municipal building delivers a modern, unified workplace that enhances collaboration, efficiency, and community connection. With thoughtfully designed offices, collaboration zones, and public-facing spaces, the new facility stands as a landmark for Grandview Heights while supporting employee experience and long-term growth.
“The furnishings provide a clean, functional, and professional environment well suited for a government facility. Their durable design supports daily operational needs while creating a welcoming, efficient workspace that reflects the standards and commitment of public service.”
Megan Miller, Director of Finance for the City of Grandview Heights
