Challenge
Before this facility, youth in Central Ohio who needed care beyond inpatient treatment faced a critical and urgent gap, often leaving their community and traveling out of state simply to continue their recovery. Buckeye Ranch set out to solve a complex challenge: deliver one of only four specialized behavioral health centers in Ohio that could meet highly clinical requirements while still feeling safe, dignified, and residential in nature. The project demanded a careful balance of therapeutic performance and human comfort, all delivered on an accelerated timeline to respond to the growing need for in-state care.
Vision
The Buckey Ranch team envisioned a new space that felt vibrant and welcoming rather than sterile, while still meeting the safety and function requirements of a behavioral health environment.
Collaboration
LOTH and The Buckeye Ranch worked collaboratively utilizing a design-assist model to build a strong partnership and fully understand the vision from the start. Additionally, through live design meetings, material selections and ongoing budget guidance, the teams aligned preferred solutions and delivered a seamless, efficient design process.
Result
