Nationwide Children’s Hospital
Livingston Ambulatory Center

Challenge

Nationwide Children’s Hospital needed a comprehensive furniture solution for its new six-story Livingston Ambulatory Center. The facility houses ambulatory clinics, faculty offices, staff support areas, central registration, waiting areas, and multiple support spaces. The challenge was to design environments that encouraged collaboration, offered flexibility for different workstyles, and reflected the hospital’s brand across administrative, public, and patient-facing areas.

Vision

The goal was to create a functional, welcoming environment that promoted teamwork and supported a variety of postures and work modes. Lowered panels in administrative areas would encourage collaboration, while strategically placed touchdown spaces would give staff greater choice and control over how and where they worked. The design needed to serve both clinical efficiency and a positive patient experience.

Collaboration

LOTH leveraged its long-standing partnership with Nationwide Children’s Hospital to develop a tailored plan for the new facility. First, the team worked closely with hospital leadership to design administrative, waiting, exam, and public spaces. As a result, these areas balanced operational needs with strong brand alignment. Additionally, furniture was selected to promote flexibility, comfort, and durability in high-use environments.

Result

The completed Livingston Ambulatory Center now offers a holistic solution that supports collaboration, productivity, and patient care. As a result, the facility features 150 cubicle workstations, 25 unassigned workstations, 50 private offices, 20 lounge spaces, 10 huddle rooms, and 9 conference rooms, all thoughtfully designed to reinforce Nationwide Children’s Hospital’s identity. Ultimately, the result is a modern, brand-forward space that meets the needs of staff, patients, and visitors alike.
